Adolescence is an important, unique time where there is incredible growth and challenges in many areas. Relationships change with parents, peer relationships can be a source of belonging but can also be a source of pain. There can be pressure academically and pressure about choices for the future. All this within the context of rapidly changing technology that brings both connection and isolation.
So many significant choices and patterns are made in adolescence that can impact the rest of one’s life. Working through painful events that have occurred or gaining better relational and self care skills can help smooth the road leading to adulthood.
Sometimes young people need a counselor to talk with who is neither a parent nor a peer, who can lend some perspective, insight, and guidance. I provide a safe place where adolescents can process past events and take the steps necessary for a better future.
